I arrived in Montreal a couple of hours ago, to attend the JSM. The Canadian immigration and customs officers were surprised to hear the there is a statistics conference in town. Their sample size is probably not large enough, and I am sure they will soon update the probability that the next person coming is a statistician.
I will give a talk on Sunday, at about 4.50 PM. This session 80 (CC room 513A): Biomarkers and Personalized Medicine — Contributed Papers, and the title of my talk is Variable Selection by Combinatorial Optimization, with Application to Pharmacogenomics. You are all invited to come, listen, and say hello. If you do, well… it will probably not change your life, but will make me happy. See you!
